WHY I BUILT THIS
I got into fantasy football rankings the way a lot of people probably do — reading article after article, comparing expert rankings, watching draft-prep videos, listening to podcasts on my commute. Somewhere in there I realized I didn't just want to read other people's rankings anymore. I wanted my own.
So I tried to build them myself, and immediately hit a wall: staring at a spreadsheet of 150+ names and trying to slot each one into an exact rank, all at once, is genuinely overwhelming. It's easy to lose the thread of what you actually believe when you're juggling that many players at the same time.
What I noticed, though, was that comparing just two players and picking the one I'd rather have was easy. Obvious, even, most of the time. That's the entire idea behind this tool: instead of ranking everyone at once, you make a long string of simple head-to-head calls, and the full ranking builds itself underneath you. No spreadsheet paralysis — just one decision at a time.
HOW IT WORKS
Every ranking on this site comes from the same core idea: you're shown two players, you pick the one you'd rather have, and the tool uses your answer to slot the winner into the right spot in your growing list — without needing to ask you about every single player you've already ranked.
A few things happen underneath that to make the rankings more useful:
- Real stats, not guesses. Every player's numbers come from actual play-by-play NFL data, not estimates.
- Live rosters. The player pool pulls current team and roster info so trades, cuts, and new additions stay reflected.
- Rookie seeding. Players without NFL stats yet (rookies, or anyone who missed last season) get placed into the list based on how similarly-drafted players have historically performed — so a first-round pick doesn't get buried at the bottom by default.
- Matchup-adjusted weekly mode. If you rank for a specific week instead of the full season, the tool factors in how tough that week's opponent has been against that position.
None of this replaces your own judgment — it just makes sure the starting point going into each comparison is a reasonable one.
DATA & CREDITS
Player stats, schedule, and roster data all come from nflverse, an open-source NFL data project (CC-BY 4.0). They had no part in building this site — they just make great data freely available.
Snap Rank Fantasy is an independent, fan-made project and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NFL, NFLPA, or any NFL team, player, or league.
YOUR DATA, IN PLAIN ENGLISH
You can rank players without ever making an account — nothing about you is collected, and your rankings just live in your own browser.
If you create an account, here's exactly what that involves: your email address, so you can log in and so your rankings save to your account instead of just one browser. Your saved rankings sync to your account so you can pick them up on any device.
When you finish a ranking while logged in, it also contributes to the Community Consensus page — but only as an anonymous data point averaged in with everyone else's. No other user, and no page on this site, ever shows which individual person ranked a player where. Your own "My Rankings" page is the only place your specific picks are ever displayed to anyone, including you.
Account data is stored with Supabase, a standard authentication and database provider. It's never sold, and there's no advertising network on this site tracking you across other websites.
You can delete any saved ranking permanently at any time from your My Rankings panel.
